The Glass Garden at Midnight Rose Farm

Each year over 7 million tons of glass enters our Countries waste system and ends it's days in land fills. Commercial glass recycling is deterred by cost, weight, and colorants in the glass we use each day. What if there was a way for Us to help?

Midnight Rose Farm is taking the call and has expanded our service to the environment by creating a locally focused glass recycling program by accepting local resident drop offs, and working with the local wineries to re-create their bottles into products that can better all of us in the future! 

There are many benefits to add glass to your garden!

Our program takes used bottles destined for the land fill and returns them to their original form: SAND

Glass sand is 100% inert to soil, meaning that it does not contaminate nor change the soil composition.

BENEFITS:

LESS WATERING- glass sand on top of the soil holds moisture in, allowing for less water usage to grow

NO CHEMICALS: Glass sand used as mulch offers pest deterrence, as well as a beautiful alternative to traditional mulch that has harmful chemicals and dyes. 

ROOM TO GROW: adding glass sand to soil allows for roots to expand better giving your plants a stronger foundation to product for you.

We welcome your clean, food free glass bottles at our drop site on the Farm near the butterfly hatchery. There is no charge for recycling but donations are always appreciated.

Purchasing Sand:

Glass sand will be available for purchase at the farm year round. We are also looking into other retail locations to partner with, details will be posted on our Farm Facebook as there are updates.
